Headline: Bulldogs Take a Big Bite Out of Badgers Offensive Player of the Game: Lee Evans- 7 receptions for 182 yards
The Badgers knew that Fresno State would not a push over, yet they expected as did their fans to come away with a victory on Saturday afternoon at Camp Randall. The Badgers led the Bulldogs 20-10 at Haltime. Wisconsin, kicked off to the Bulldogs to open the second half, and in a matter of two and a half minutes, Fresno State took a 26-20 lead and rolled on from there to a 32-20 victory.
Wisconsin got on the board first and very fast. The Badgers went 72 yards in just 4 plays for a TOUCHDOWN. The drive was boosted by a big run by Anthony Davis, who on first and ten at the 48, ran for 46 yards. Jim Sorgi sneaked in from the 1, a few plays later. Fresno State however, showed they came from California to play,as on their next drive, they tied the score at 7-7. Facing a third and ten from the 20, Bulldogs quarterback David Carr found Rodney Wright open in the left corner of the endzone for the score. Later in the quarter, the Badger offense would strike again, as Sorgi hit Lee Evans for a 53 strike good for a TOUCHDOWN to make it 14-7, with just over three minutes left in the opening quarter. The Bulldogs would strike again late in the quarter on a 43 yard field goal to make it 14-10.
The Badgers would extend the lead to 17-10 with just under ten minutes left in the half, on a 37 yard field goal by Allen. Fesno State came up short on several of their next drives.However, the Badger offense only was able to produce another field goal by Allen to make it 20-10 at Half.
The third quarter,and the Badgers began to roll down hill. On the opening kick Bernard Berrian returned it 96 yards UNTOUCHED for a touchdown. The Bulldogs caught the Badgers sleeping on the extra point, and converted a two pointer, to make it 20-18. On the next series, Sorgi was intercepted by Terrie Sams, giving the Bulldogs a first down at the 31. Four plays later, following a Wisconsin Penalty, the Bulldogs scored the touchdown. On the extra point, Carr opted to run it in for two, and Fresno State grabbed a 26-20 lead.

Fresno State would extend their lead to 29-20 late in the third quarter on a 34 yard field goal. The Badgers were shell shocked, and NEVER recovered. The Badger defense did manage to stop the Bulldogs on a drive in the fourth quarter. On third and goal from the one, the Bulldogs were stopped, and forced to kick a field goal with 6:30 remaining to give them a 32-20 lead. That would be all they needed on Saturday, as the Fresno State Bulldogs get a 32-20 win over Wisconsin.
The Badgers are now 1-2 in 2001.
