The Wisconsin Badgers won their TENTH straight game on Thursday night to run their over-all record to 10-1 and 1-0 in the conference by defeating the Indiana Hoosiers 49-46.
Indiana led the entire first half, and looked poised to blow the Badgers away. The Hoosiers built up a 12 point lead by the end of the first half.
The Badgers came out fired up to open the second half. Penney, scored the first eight points of he second half, and cut the deficit to 28-27. The teams exchanged baskets, until Penney and the Badgers sparked another comeback run of eight straight, to grab their first lead of the game at 37-34, following a three point basket by Penney. The defenses for both squads stepped up, and kept the score close down the stretch. The game was tied at 39-39 with 4:46 remaining. Free throws played a key role in the closing minutes, as the Badgers managed to build a four point margin at 47-43. Kirk Haston nailed a HUGE three pointer with seven seconds left to draw the Hoosiers to within 1 at 47-46. Boone was fouled immeadiatly on the inbounds pass and went to the line with 7.7 seconds left. He made both free throws and the Badgers were able to WIN their conference opener 49-46.
