Headline: Badgers Pluck the Ducks Game MVP: Michael Bennett-- 28 carries-- 290 yards-- 2 touchdowns Offensive Player of the Game: Michael Bennett Defensive Player of the Game: Jamar Fletcher---- 3 interceptions
Despite the fact that the Badgers were hampered for a second game with NCAA violations, several players came up BIG time and enabled the Badgers to improve to 2-0 on the young season with a 27-23 victory over Oregon on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium. On defense.... Jamar Fletcher got three interceptions, while on offense Michael Bennett, the Badgers replacement this year for Ron Dayne
has Badger fans saying" Ron Who' after he carried the ball 28 times for a total of 290 yards and two touchdowns.... FIFTH on the all-time single game rushing record.
Although there was no scoring in the FIRST quarter, there still was enough action to keep fans happy. The Ducks had first possession and lost control by first fumbling on the second play, after recovering it they later threw it away as Jamar Fletcher intercepted a pass from Joey Harrington that was intended for Keenan Howry. The Badgers first possesssion started out promising, but ended null and void, when Vitaly Pisetsky missed a 42 yard field goal attempt. Each team's defenses took control of the game for the remainder of the quarter, as each team would take turns punting.
The Badgers first drive of the SECOND quarter started similar to their first drive of the game. Promising at first..... but nothing to show at the end. Bollinger initially hooked up with Lee Evans for a 13 yard gain on first down.... a penalty gave the Badgers the ball at the 44. However.... a holding penalty on the Badgers cost them yardage. Unable to produce.... Wisconsin had to punt again.
Maurice Morris would get the Ducks rolling on the next series... he carred for gains of three and twelve yards. Several plays later.... on third and eight Harrington completed a pass to Allan Admundson which gained 30 yards. Next, Harrington completed another pass under heavy pressure for a first down. The drive stalled and Oregon setled for a 29 yard field goal to give them a 3-0 lead. The Badgers tried desperatly to get something started but were not successful Oregon would add another field goal late in the half to make it 6-0.The key to the drive was huge pass play.Harrington hit Marshall Tucker in stride for a 50 yard gain down to the 28. The Badger defense held steady and made the Ducks settle for the 21 field goal to make it 6-0 at halftime.
