For just the second time in the past 22 years, The Badgers beat Bobby Knight and his Indiana Hoosiers.
For the record...... the FINAL score was 56-53.
The win was the THIRD straight for the Badgers. It allowed the Badgers to finish the season at 16-12 overall
and 8-8 in the Big Ten.
With the Badgers having a .500 mark in the conference and some season victories over " ranked teams"(Texas-Temple-Illnois-Indiana) they SHOULD get an invitation next week to the NCAA Tournament!!!
The Badgers had the very early lead on Indiana at 8-6. They then fell behind for the majority of the game.
As a matter of fact, the Badgers trailed by as many as 12 points with just over ten minutes remaining. But then the rally of the year started..... Duany Duany scored nine straight points to the Badgers to within five, with 7:40 left. The Badger's defense also rallied in the final ten minutes only allowing Indiana to hit three baskets. The BADGERS pulled away for good at 52-50. Controversy surrounded the game's ending. Mike Kelly sank four free throws over the final 30 seconds to close out the run in favor of the Badger's at 11-3. However..... Danny Fife, Indiana's star player shot a three pointer with three seconds left.... he missed it.... it apparently bounced off a Wisconsin player and wet out of bounds with one second left..... BUT..... the horn went off and the Badgers and their fans celebrated a BIG VICTORY.
