Headline: Badger Hockey SWEEPS Alaska Anchorage: Draws closer to capturing WCHA Title
The Wisconsin Badger Hockey team traveled way up north this past weekend to play Alaska Anchorage. The Badgers made it worth the trip, as they swept the weekend series
and improved their league leading record to 20-4-0.
On Friday night...... Brad Winchester scored two goals to propel the Badgers to an easy 8-2 victory. The lead was so well protected, that coach Jeff Sauer pulled goalie
Graham Melanson midway through the third period after he stopped 19 shots. Freshman goalie Scott Kabotoff came on in relief.
On Saturday night.... Danny Heatly sparked the Badger's
attack as he came up with a hat trick and the Badgers shut out Alaska Anchorage 5-0. Heatly is the leading Freshman scorer in the WCHA, and is favored by many to win rookie of the year honors.
Next weekend, the Badgers travel to the Twin Cities to take on their old foes....... The Minnesota Golden Gophers. All Bucky needs to do is earn at least a split in the weekend series, and they will CLINCH their FIRST
WCHA regular season championship since 1990.
