Headline: Nebraska defeats Wisconsin for NCAA Volleyball Title
The Wisconsin women's volleyball team made their first ever appearance in the NCAA Volleyball title match on Saturday against heavily favored Nebraska. The Badger women put a scare into the nation's top ranked team, and took them to a fifth and decisive game, before losing it 15-9.
Nebraska came out strong, and took the first game 15-9.
The Badgers evened the match, winning game 2 by a score of 15-10. The Badgers used that momentum from the victory to win game 3 by the score of 15-7, and take a 2-1 games lead in the best of 5 games title match. But the Lady Cornhuskers responded by dominating game 4 by the score of 15-2.
In the fifth and decisive game, Nebraska jumped out to a fast 4-0 lead, but the Badgers battled back to 4-3. Nebraska answered that run, with a string of four points in a row to regain control at 8-4. The Lady Cornhuskers used that push to keep control of the game to win it 15-9.
Wisconsin finished as runner-up and ended the season at 33-4, while Nebraska won the title with an undefeated season.
