The Badgers Rose Bowl dreams wilted away on Saturday, but despite a
26-16 loss to the nations #1 team, Michigan, Bucky still has a shot at a
major New Year's Day or New Year's Eve Bowl game. Michigan took what
appeared to be a commanding 16-3 lead into half time. But the Badgers
made it a game, taking the second half kickoff and driving down the
field 80 yards in eleven plays for a touchdown. The drive was kept
alive when on a fourth and five Alvarez elected to go for the first
down. QB Mike Samuel delivered. Later in the drive, Samuel would score
on a third and goal play for a 16-10 score.
Michigan would increase the lead to 19-10 on an early fourth quarter
field goal. Later in the quarter another touchdown by Michigan's Chris
Howard put the game out of reach at 26-10. The Badgers would not give
up. Once again, they struck back as Mike Samuel hit Tony Simmons on a
26 yard pass for a TD, to make the score 26-16. Initially, a 14 point
under dog, the Badgers, despite the loss faired well only losing by 10.
#1 Michigan puts its Big Ten and National Title aspirations on the line
next week Saturday when they host old time rival Ohio State.
Bucky meanwhile, travels to Happy Valley Pennsylvania to take on Joe
Paterno's Nittany Lions. One thing is for certain... Bucky WILL GO
BOWLING this holiday season. Hope for a win at Penn State and a Purdue
loss which would then guarantee Bucky playing on New Year's Day!
